Parenting Tips for Bathing Baby

Bathing a new infant can be a very intimidating task to a new parent. I was even a little bit nervous with my second, even though I had done it hundreds of times before. How do you make sure that you don’t drop them? How do you make sure that you don’t immerse their head in water? What all needs to be on hand during bath time? These can all be very overwhelming questions and can turn a simple bath into a huge stressor. I conquered these questions with my bath buddy and a couple of baby bath items.
The first thing I bought was a baby bathtub. While these tubs are great in the way that they are smaller and make baby feel more secure than the big household bath tub, there’s still no way to make sure that you keep a firm grip on those slippery little bodies. So I then bought a “baby ramp” that fits inside the bath tub. These ramps allow baby to safely lie down with their head above water so you don’t need to worry about holding baby upright with one hand and trying to clean them with the other.
My bath buddy is really just a kit that I assembled myself and then gave a cute name. I found a small plastic tub around the house and filled it with shampoo, baby wash, towels, facecloths, and of course those cute little rubber duckies that babies will love to stare at! By keeping the entire bath buddy in the bathroom, I don’t need to worry that I will leave an important bath item out of reach while bathing my little one!
With just a few tools, it’s easy to turn a nerve-wracking experience into the time of bonding that it should be!
