Baby Product Review: Angel Care Monitor

Angel Care Monitor

Standing in the baby care aisle and looking at all the different baby monitors that are available, I, as a new parent, was very confused. I wanted something a little more than just hearing when my baby was awake and seeing lights that indicated movement. I was terrified of SIDS and wanted to be sure that I would know at all times that my baby was safe. Not being able to afford the high-tech video monitors that are available, I opted instead for an Angel Care monitor. Still quite pricey but the peace of mind sounded worth it to me.

The Angel Care Monitor has a heart beat detector sensor pad and an alarm will sound if the baby’s heartbeat cannot be detected after twenty seconds. It’s very easy to set up. The sensor pad goes under baby’s mattress and it is connected to the child unit of the monitor. It is this unit that picks up sounds and also where the parent can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor pad. The child’s unit also has a light to let the parent know that it is on and working properly. The parent’s unit is really no different than the units that come with other monitor models. It has the speaker to transmit sound from the baby’s location and it also has lights that light up when there is sound in baby’s room.

The first time the alarm went off I was horrified and ran up to check on my baby. It turns out that she had just moved herself over to the far corner of the crib and while she was fine, the sensor couldn’t detect her heartbeat because she was too far away from it. A quick adjustment to the sensitivity level and the problem was solved!

This is a great product for parents. It’s an easy way to keep an eye on your child at all times and although it may be expensive, it sure is worth it! So worthwhile in fact that I bought a second one when my next daughter was born so that my oldest daughter (who was not even two at the time her sister came along) could continue to use hers.
