Baby Product Review: Baby Tad

Baby Tad

When my daughter was about nine months old, I decided it was time to get her some educational toys. I wanted something that would allow us to interact with each other while teaching her something at the same time. At the top of my list was Baby Tad.

Baby Tad teaches the child shapes, colours, and playful songs. Outfitted on his stomach, there are many different shapes such as a star, a rectangle, a square and so on. Each shape has its own bright and playful color. When Baby Tad is turned on (which is simply done by pressing his hand,) he asks for the child to “find the square.” To make it easier on little eyes, the shape that he asks to be found lights up and blinks. If the correct shape is pressed, he cheers the tyke on and continues to sing a song. And a shape is pressed that is different than what Baby Tad asked for he says what the color and the shape pressed are. He will then ask again for another shape and color to be pressed.

This is a great way to teach your child shapes and colors as you can go through them all with the child saying things such as, “Is that the purple star?” It’s also great interaction because once Baby Tad breaks out into song, you can sing to your child while showing them the actions of songs such as “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” Another great thing about Baby Tad is the parental control that allows you to adjust the volume so when you’re tired of hearing those songs over and over again, you can turn him down.

The only thing I would change is at what stage I bought this toy for my daughter. Nine months was a little too soon for her to fully grasp the concept so I would probably wait until about eighteen months. But infants will still love the songs and the “kiss” that Baby Tad gives them when his lips are pressed!
