Baby Product Review: Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment

There are dozens of diaper ointments available…how do you know which one to use when? Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment both helps a baby’s diaper rash to heal and protects the rash by keeping urine and other diaper stuff off the rash.
The main ingredient is zinc oxide (the same main ingredient as Desitin). Desitin is approximately 40% zinc oxide, and Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment is 10% zinc oxide. Dr. Smith’s is gentler to the baby and was recommended to us by a nurse for a rash on the front of our baby’s diaper area. It was very effective and most of the rash was gone within two days. Desitin is more potent, but safer for the back of the diaper area.
Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment also includes Beeswax and Lanolin, both of which are great for skin.
Dr. Smith’s Diaper Ointment is available at most pharmacy’s and grocery stores. For more information see their website.
