Sunflower Crackers Blueberry Cream Sandwich Banned

I know we have been told to go local but apparently it seems that some local products in the Philippines have not been spared from the rising melamine scare. My hunch is that they were outsourcing ingredients from China, the origin of melamine, through milk and even perhaps eggs.

Yes that is right, eggs. Eggs originating from China are also being placed on hold since due to poulty feeds, the probable existence of melamine transmitted via chicken eggs are another source of the growing melamine scare.

Now this melamine issue is certainly getting out of hand. After chocolates, cosmetics, biscuits and now eggs are being tagged along with it. As far as Croley Foods Manufacturing is concerned, they are in a heap of trouble. While the only potentially contaminated variant is the Blueberry Sandwich line, this is affecting the entire Sunflower Cracker brand. In fact, local Philippine supermarkets have withdrawn all Sunflower products from their shelves, so you can just imagine the impact that this will have for the Croley Food company.

Hong Kong food authorities are apparently the group that found traces of melamine. Following protocol, the Bureau of Food and Drugs will likewise conduct their own tests in the Philippines although it is likely that they will find it as well.

Croley Foods has been exporting to other countries as well its products and while it is bent on going global, this is quite a big blow to their company’s credibility. Known to be a good food extender and a snack that even kids digest, the impact of this issue is bound to hurt the company as a whole.

Even if cleared, sales are bound to slump and put them in danger of losing business. Perhaps they should have thought of that before they turned to outsourcing in the first place. As it stands, other businesses would do well to test outsourced ingredients first before putting them into delicate selections such as food and snacks.

Oh and there is the breaking new information that Croley did not even have the proper export permits with the local government? It seems avoiding taxes and licenses backfired and eventually made the business far worst to where it is right now. Talk about Karma!
