Top Baby Names
There’s a lot of interesting names out there for kid’s.
I poured over the internet, website after website. I took my favorite advice and (I’m not even kidding) yelled the names I had chosen up the stairs to see if I’d be able to (apparently according to the websites, I’d have to) scream her name in public sounding much like a crazy lady.
Although, now a bit wiser and I do know that that was a rather pointless effort, I did narrow my list a bit more from that.
I’ll never forget the reactions to the ’short list’ for names for my daughter. I decided to go to both my and her father’s family to guage reactions to my list. I prepared myself with the list, the names and their meanings. I tried to draw from my background (German, Irish) and my then husbands (pretty much everything else, leaning towards Italian).
In hindsight (as they say, it is 20/20) I also should’ve prepared for psychological boot camp. I hadn’t realized at that point how ‘passionate’ people can be to a list of names.
I chucked the entire list.
Of course that didn’t stop the weigh ins, but I just set the name I found in stone.
My joys in life usually come out of rather pointless endeavors.
