Mulitasking Isn't Always Safe

While making the comment of “If my baby is hungry, I’m going to feed it” is normally a very reasonable thing to say, and most of us I’m sure feel the exact same way, Genine Compton just takes a different approach. She was talking on her cell and driving (already a big no-no) her baby started to fuss in hunger, and she started nursing him, while driving and talking on the cell phone.

Some states do have laws saying that it’s okay to nurse while in the car (mind you, if you are a passenger) it’s still rather dangerous.  Every parent nursing or otherwise has been in the car with a hungry baby, it’s not a pleasant experience.  Normally one pulls over, if waiting isn’t a conceivable option.

The mom seems to think that the La Leche League will come to her defense as they do in situations where mommas are harassed for breastfeeding, a spokesperson for the group did have something to say:

“It won’t kill a baby to wait for her milk,” Davis noted. “Even a quick stop could launch the airbag into that baby. We want moms to breastfeed their babies, but please, first think safety, safety, safety.”

As the article quoted also mentions, Davis was a ‘survivor’ of car-seat screamer.
The woman according to another source may face some hot water

If convicted of the child endangering charge, Compton could face up to 180 days in jail and fined between $1,500 and $1,800, Burke said. If convicted of the unlawful restraint charge, Compton could be fined up to $150.

To be honest, she’s really lucky that the worst that happened.
