Kid’s Being Effected By Economic Downturn

l_image101688cd0b59388fa7c1672e286dIt seems as if it’s just to be expected, but in the economic downturn education and children’s activities get cut first and most drastically.  While many states are or have enacted large tax hikes on alcohol and cigarettes to help with funding children’s programs either as of late or in the past, the same programs are not being propped up.

California, among the states being most effected by the financial mess is cutting programs for at risk children and young teens.  They had enacted a heavy taxation on cigarettes a few years ago, claiming to do so to fund the programs they are now cutting.

The politicians in charge cannot seem to understand that by cutting after school programs and educational funding in already high risk areas they are creating larger problems than we already have.

Schools need the funding for the necessary supplies and books to further the education of the kids.  Yet, the politicians always seem to cut most frequently out of the educational budgets.

Why is it the kids are always among the first to suffer?  This is truly beyond comprehension.

There have been so many studies have shown the effects of all this, yet it still happens.

What does it say about priorities when we can not even give money to the programs that our children need most?
