Prom Fever in The UK
In America the prom is the highlight of most kid’s high school years. A magical night where everyone gets to get all decked out and dance the night away, and it’s been a huge deal for a long time now. The UK has experienced a huge fascination and implementation of their own proms.
Parents are going all out, shelling out a lot of money to make sure their daughters and sons are in the best formal attire money can buy. However not everybody is thrilled with this.
They’ve managed to outdo any kind of American prom by a bit. How?
Helicopters.
Parents are paying in excess of £600 to hire a stretch limousine; in London, American Hummer vehicles are being hired for £850, and in the Midlands this year some parents delivered their sequin-clad children in helicopters.

Parents are shelling out a bit extra things to make the experience extra special. They admit, some of the things they are doing for their kids may be a bit over the top, they just want this to be a magical memory, and can you really blame them?
Some would actually say that yes, and there is some concern that the parents and the schools are pushing these things way too far.
While in America the prom season is normally reserved for high school juniors and seniors, in the UK children as young as seven years old are joining the mix.
Bu when a school feels it’s appropriate to celebrate a primary school child’s ‘graduation’ with high heels and make-up, it’s hard not to feel that something is profoundly wrong.

Still many insist that it’s all in good fun, so people should just relax and let the kids have fun.
