Doll Causing Outrage, Overblown and Silly?
They make dolls that pee, poop, and do a wide assortment of other things. Including crying until you take the batteries out (I had this one).
They make them completely lifelike and at times, completely ridiculous. A Spanish toymaker group has come out with a doll that breastfeeds, with a rather mixed reaction.
The doll (called Bebe Gloton) comes with a small halter top with daises (image below) on them that activates a breastfeeding like mechanism in the doll.
Breastfeeding is of course a natural way to feed a baby, yet people claim that the doll ‘sexualizes little girls’. Which, unless one is trying to ban all dolls, seems a bit silly.
Anyone who has nursed a newborn can tell you, it’s not something rife with sex, or is it something one does to be sexy for that matter. It is a biological and natural way however to feed an infant. Yet, there is still a moral outrage over the fact that this doll nurses as opposed to coming with a pre-packaged bottle, which seems a bit silly to be honest.
