School Bus Safety Rules
With school about to open and kids getting back to classes it’s time to brush off (and up!) on important school bus safety tips.
- Never bend over to pick up something you drop in near the school bus. Either alert the bus driver or wait until they are gone.
- Walk at least 6 feet to the side of the bus.
- Stay away from the street, and about 6 feet away from the school bus (about three big steps).
- Always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before walking forward.
- When leaving, make sure you are at least ten feet in front of the school bus.
- Always check that nothing is stuck or near the school bus door when you are exiting.
- Always make sure the bus driver can see you, and never walk behind the school bus.
- Get to the bus stop early (about five minutes should be fine).
