School Bus

With school about to open and kids getting back to classes it’s time to brush off (and up!) on important school bus safety tips.

  1. Never bend over to pick up something you drop in near the school bus.  Either alert the bus driver or wait until they are gone.
  2. Walk at least 6 feet to the side of the bus.
  3. Stay away from the street, and about 6 feet away from the school bus (about three big steps).
  4. Always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before walking forward.
  5. When leaving, make sure you are at least ten feet in front of the school bus.
  6. Always check that nothing is stuck or near the school bus door when you are exiting.
  7. Always make sure the bus driver can see you, and never walk behind the school bus.
  8. Get to the bus stop early (about five minutes should be fine).
