Should junk food be taxed and if they were would you change your eating habits?  Sound off in the comments below.

There’s no gigantic secret that one probably should not down a few bags of chips in one sitting, or that those Twinkies aren’t the best thing for you.

Pretty soon though, they could cost you more than just some guilty feelings.

The government’s plan to start imposing the sin taxes more commonly associated with cigarettes and alcohol onto junk food is gaining acceptance.

According to UPI:

Public health experts and lawmakers in six states have voiced support for slapping “sin taxes” on high-calorie foods and drinks, such as soda pop, that they blame for an epidemic of obesity and its soaring related healthcare costs, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

While it may make some people rather upset, there is some logic behind the move. Is it enough to chance a decade of declining eating habits? Many kids grow up eating this stuff, and unfortunately it’s also one of the cheapest options available for a snack.
