Starting With Chores Early and Teaching Responsibility
![]()
Kid’s and younger children learn from what they see and do early on in life. By setting up your child helping out early, you are setting them up for being more responsible later on.
Kid’s as young as one or two can start by doing simple things: sorting laundry, helping to put away some dishes, spoons, and other non-dangerous items. Many kid’s that young can even sweep floors (maybe not perfectly swept, but some do enjoy it). Getting into these habits early can make a huge difference later on.
Keeping up the habit is another way to enforce the responsibility in kids, make a certain night (or day) especially for keeping up with chores.
For laundry, consider getting special baskets just for anything that needs to get done quickly (like sports gear, etc), and have others for the usual sorting (darks and lights). Do you have a way to make sure your child keeps up with their chores? Post it up below!
