Keep Your Child Calm At the Dentist
It is simply a fact of life, at some point or another- your child will need to see the dentist. Be it for a cleaning or something else, it’s a seemingly inevitable part of life.
Another part of the process is the anxiety that can come up with these same visits, and keeping yourself and your child calm can help out is huge amounts. Talking about the visits in simple terms and assuring your child over what will be happening can really go a long way towards easing any worries that they may have.
If possible, try and either bring your child with you to one of your own visits to show them that it’s something that everyone does. It may help to have someone trusted by the child with you during this time as well.
Another help may come from visiting a child-friendly dentist’s office first. Make it a ‘friendly’ appointment to get your child used to it first.
Make sure you are also comfortable with the dentist as well, even if it isn’t a full family practice. If your child has a horrible experience, it can pose problems later in life as well.
