Occupational Therapists Branching Out?
For many years now, occupational therapists have helped children work through many issues- normally Autism, and many sensory issues had a lot of success with occupational therapists. While the profession’s success traditionally is with these children of late they are branching out to others as well, with more success.
If your child has been having some troubles with handwriting, or drawing (and you aren’t one to shy away from costs) you may be able to get them extra help with an occupational therapist. Many parents whose children are having trouble with anything from sloppy handwriting to trouble with stick figures are seeking help from the occupational therapists.
While this may seem a bit much, there has been some success and a few tales of improvements. In addition to helping with ‘just’ handwriting (which alone has shown links to skills later in life) there have been results related to better overall motor skills.
What do you think of this branching out of the occupational therapy profession?
