Kids & Cooking

I think this holiday season is the perfect time to start introducing your kids to the wonders of cooking. They can learn a lot from this activity. Some parents even introduce the concept of nutrition,  numbers, measurements and even opposites and similarities while doing cooking activities with their little children together.

Over the years, there have been some amazing cookbooks designed to help parents and children enjoy cooking and here are some of our top picks:

The Everything Kids’ Cookbook: From mac n cheese to double chocolate chip cookies – 90 recipes to have some finger-lickin fun (Everything Kids Series)

With recipes like Blueberry Pancakes, Smoothies and over 30 other food items that include puzzles and other kid-friendly ideas, this recipe book will help parents teach cooking in the most fun manner.

The book is written by a dietitian who specializes in children’s nutrition.

The book features illustrations that will make learning a lot easier for kids, too. And the best part is, it has about 24 entrees of dinner ideas…which is quite a generous serving for a children’s cookbook.

The Mom & Me Cookbook

This particular book comes highly recommended by friends of mine because the instructions are very easy to carry out. Kids will not have a difficult time following through the step by step guides.  It’s even boy-friendly, as my friends attest. They can get their young boys to participate in the cooking. The book is authored by Annabel Karmel who is a mother and an author of other best selling books for children.

Both these books are great for budding chefs and can actually make good Christmas presents this holiday.
