WildTangent Releases FATE: The Cursed King
The action-RPG features dungeon-crawling adventure, customizable characters and in-game trading
REDMOND, Wash., March 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — WildTangent has announced today the release of FATE: The Cursed King, the fourth installment of the award-winning RPG series, on the WildTangent games service. The downloadable dungeon-crawler game series has been wildly successful since the release of the original FATE game in 2005, which was named runner-up for “RPG of the Year” by PC Gamer Magazine.

FATE: The Cursed King takes players on a quest to become the Hero of Ekbatan as they fight to stop the treacherous priest T’Kala from exacting his revenge upon the King. The Cursed King features new dungeons, new quests and new characters, including the fan-inspired pet, Strider, chosen from entries to the Determine Your Pet Sweepstakes on the official Play FATE Facebook page.
The Cursed King introduces a new party system to the FATE series, which allows players to recruit computer-controlled allies. New weapons, armor, spells and even hairstyles have been added to The Cursed King for enhanced game-play.
In the new chapter of FATE, players will have the ability to connect with friends through Facebook. Social features include:
- Recruitment of allies using copies of friends’ heroes
- Equipment trading through the Caravan
- Global rankings and news ticker
- Opportunity to earn 20 achievements for heroic deeds
FATE: The Cursed King carries an ESRB rating of E for Everyone 10+. Players have the ability to play the game for free and to rent it with WildTangent’s digital currency, WildCoins. Free and rental sessions can last for hours at a time. After experiencing the monsters, treasure and adventure, players can determine if they want to own the game; and as always, all rentals will apply toward purchase. The game’s purchase price is $19.99.
