NEW YORK, June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Scholastic Book Clubs today announced the bestselling children’s books of the 2010-2011 school year in each of seven categories: picture books, transitional readers, early chapter books, chapter books, middle grade, young adult, and nonfiction.

“This year we saw kids truly embrace the power of choice, with popular genres including mythology, humor and a continual growth of young adult titles,” said Judy Newman, President of Scholastic Book Clubs. “We see younger kids choosing books with favorite characters, such as Clifford and Flat Stanley, while middle grade readers are going beyond vampires and reading historical fiction and books about real teen issues.”
