Texas Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) Honors 19 During Annual Enrichment Conference

Engaging training by education experts and peers builds capacity
in ACE

SAN ANTONIO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nearly 500 Afterschool Staff representing 180,000 Pre-Kindergarten
through 12th Grade students participated in the Texas
Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) 2011 Annual Conference held
August 10th-11th in Austin. Sponsored by the Texas
Education Agency (TEA) and coordinated by Edvance
Research
, the theme was A Blueprint for Afterschool Success,
emphasizing the PRIME
Blueprint for Texas ACE
as the foundation for successful afterschool
programs.

“It was an honor to attend the ACE Conference, participate in the
student panel, and represent iSWAG (International Society for Wealth
After Graduation). To stand there with my peers and closest friends as
an example of today’s generation was a big deal. I enjoyed sharing my
personal experiences.”

Colleagues, peers, educators, and community professionals explored new
ideas, strategies, and opportunities to enhance ACE programs through
high quality programming, project management, and family engagement to
help improve academic performance and college/workforce readiness.

Candace Ferguson, TEA 21st CCLC State Coordinator/Program Manager and
Gina Day of TEA opened the conference with Edvance Research, the 21st
CCLC: Program Enhancement and Quality Assurance partner.

Keynote speakers, Drs. Debbie Silver and Consuela Kickbusch shared
motivational stories of how quality teachers made a difference in their
lives and how they in turn have been role models for children, inspiring
students to achieve academic success. Participants also learned how to
engage their local judicial system to support their ACE communities.
Candace Ferguson moderated the discussion with Judge Joe A. Gonzalez,
Nueces County Commissioner for Precinct Two;
